Why Photography?

I like to take photos of places, things and people that move me.  Simple things, it may be the light I an drawn to, or color. The challenge is to have my viewer be moved, too.  That's the hard part, but something I am looking forward to being able to convey more and more to my viewer.  I love the moments that are captured forever.  I love surprises in photography, too, sometimes you can capture something that was not intentional but wonderful!

I was pleased to see the flag reflections in the window of this photo:

Another example of something unintentional in a photo - I took this photo of the two Santas and only noticed the face on the left later.  I call this "Double Vision" because of the curious expression on the face looking at the two Santas.

In this photo I was concentrating on photographing the sailboat and didn't see all the vibrant colors of the umbrellas and people on the beach in the background until I went to edit the photo.  I love surprises like that!  How colorful!

Surprises are the best part of a photograph. I've experienced them as well. The sailboat photo is very colorful, bright and cheerful. I'm excited to be in a photography group to learn from others. You are an inspiration.

Isn't it great when we see our pictures and we think I like that.
Your pictures are very good I really like your first on with the flags - so bright and cheerful and the reflection in the window is great.

What a nice idea to point out the surprises that you get when you get your photos up on the screen. This is so true and I notice it especially in macro shots.
I love the feelings that come through your photos. The flag reflection is great and the flowers add to the festive spirit!
My favourite shot has to be of the two Santas because of that little worried expression on the left from that third little face... there goes another one no longer believing in Santa Claus!

My belief is that the more we connect with our images personally, the more we will connect with our viewer. You are definitely on your way! What beautiful images. I love it when surprises like those you shared here show up in my pictures too. Each time it happens, we learn to "see" more when we are out shooting. Thanks for sharing your journey here!

Nice post and it got me thinking about the unexpected that crops up in images. I like the bright colors behind the sailboats a lot. Also the flag reflections.

I love surprises!

I have not played with my camera enough to experience these surprises myself - but now I have even more motivation to go out and start shooting!

Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks for bringing up this element of the surprises that are only noticed later. I like those too. Best of course when they're unexpectedly beneficial, like yours here.
And for the ones that go the other way, there's Photoshop.

I do love the expression on the little fellow to the left of the Santa twins.

I like the way you pointed out the "surprises" in your photos. We the viewer only see the finished image, but you get the wonder of WOW! I agree, that is one of the fun aspects of photography.
