Finding Your Eye ~ Lesson 3 ~ Part Two

I returned home from my wonderful walk in the cornfield, happy to have spent a little time in such a serene place that I feel I should visit more often.   My "Find Your Eye" assignment completed and ready to post.
I went about my day ~ starting to get our spare room ready for some guests who will be visiting soon.  Then I saw how the light hit the antique Morris Chair that has been in this room forever.  All of a sudden I saw how many different and interesting angles I could photograph this simple chair.  I grabbed my camera and started shooting!  Kat, I think this is more what you had in mind :)

Great shots! I love the unusual angles and details and have a little preference for the "Spindles Patina". Gorgeous texture and different materials for one subject.
I like the stripes of shade and sunlight on the chair seat.
Lovely compositions.

Isn't it amazing how once our eyes are opened by looking through a camera lens we see beautiful compositions everywhere. Like you I walk around my house and grab my camera when the light hits something just right. I love the way you focus close in the the parts of the chair. I especially like the shadows on the tapestry seat. And the titles really add to the experience.

What I love is that I focused on the pictures first, especially the 1st one and thought that it was actually part of a violin something or other, like a rack or a bow stand, and then I realized after reading that you had taken pictures of your chair. How magical!

Love these shots! You captured different aspects of the chair so well. I especially liked that you could practically see the history in the chair—the textures jumped out at me.

Two great takes on the exercise Deb! I can see why you were drawn to photograph this chair, the light and the shapes were just exquisite here. I love the creative angles you captured. Nicely done! I hope you had fun.

Wow! Great shots. It's funny that we walk past this beauty every day without noticing it. That is one of the gifts that I;m taking from Kat;s course - seeing my surroundings with new eyes and a deeper appreciation.

Awesome photos! I love the first two, clearly showing the old wood and fine details of the chair. What a wonderful piece to own! Beautiful!

It was fun to contrast your two photo shoots. I'm especially liking your chair captures! Wonderful lighting and creative composing! It's hard to pick a fav, but I'm drawn to the shadow play across the seat.
Great job on this exercise.

I like the shots of both Lesson 3 parts, similar in tones of brown, but so different in approach, and can see especially in part 2 how this exercise woke up something in you as it did in me. The light is so gentle against the soft and hard textures of the sturdy chair parts. And I like your choice of titles (something I don't usually think of doing), which reveals an added aspect of your personality.
